1. Search your name
Go to the State Controller's official search. Enter your first and last name (and city or ZIP to narrow results). If you have a Property ID, enter it for a direct match.
2. Select and start a claim
Click Claim next to each matching property, then choose Continue to file claim. Confirm you selected only the items you intend to claim.
3. Complete your info
Select your relationship (Myself or Heir) and fill in claimant details. Use a current mailing address, that's where your check will be sent.
4. Submit & get claim number
Click Submit to create your claim. You'll receive a claim number and an email with any required documents.
5. Upload or mail documents
For faster processing, upload documents via the secure link provided. You can also mail them to: State Controller's Office, Unclaimed Property Division, P.O. Box 942850, Sacramento, CA 94250-9873.
6. Check status anytime
